2005 CLEANUP DAY - BIG SUCCESS !!!
Last Saturday, October 1, 2005 marked the first Morse Reservoir cleanup day. Over 50 volunteers donated their time, boats and chainsaws to gather tons of debris. Crews worked the south end of the lake, Party Cove Island and Cicero from power lines to Red Bridge Park. See list below of volunteers. If we missed anyone’s name, please send me an email.
Visit our web site to see pictures from Saturday’s community event. You will be shocked at what we collected, including huge tree stumps, 40 foot logs, multiple dock parts, and grills. The pile of debris at Red Bridge was 15’ tall and 40’ in diameter.
We would like to thank Chad Pilkington of Pilkington Excavating for donating his time and backhoe. We could not have accomplished this without his help. A special thanks to Lakeview Marina for donating a boat, the Marina for usage of property for gathering debris. Thank you, the city of Cicero for usage of the Red Bridge Park and hauling away the tons of debris.
As great a success we had, there is still considerable amount of debris on the reservoir. Many of us decided to meet again this Saturday October 8 to concentrate on collecting debris from north of 236th bridge. All the debris north of the bridge will be floating down the reservoir next spring. We want to gather as much as we can while the weather is still warm.
Thank all the volunteers, especially organizers Chuck McCarley, Kim Wert, Terry Ennis, Roger Goings, Mike Murphy and Kathy Benjamin.
Organizing Committee: Terry and Donna Ennis, Chuck McCarley, Bruce McCord, Gary McIntosh, Dan Mitas, Jim Schneider, Larry Seacat, Kim Wert, Sam and Pam Zajac.
