DOCK ADDRESS SIGNS

The Cicero Fire department responded to a recent boat fire near the power lines. A resident seeing the fire called 911 and reported the location using their boat dock number.  These dock numbers are matched to your street address number.

Please get signs attached to your docks. If you need help attaching, send email to info@morseh2o.org or Dick Van Voorhis at dickvanv@gmail.com

Since over 80% of the dock signs are now installed, we might suggest installing your dock number on your boat, jet ski, etc.  It will make cruising around the lake more interesting,  knowing the section of the lake the other boats are from.  It will also aid in getting a lost or stray piece of equipment returned.

Lake Clean-Up - July 31, 2010

MORSE 5th ANNUAL LAKE CLEANUP – An Eco-friendly Green Event

On Saturday July 31st, MWA held its 6th annual lake cleanup.  Thanks to Marina Limited Partnership Dock repair and Construction department for helping with a few of the really large trees again this year. If you need dock work, please show your support and contact Paul Deaton at (317) 336-7180.

Working from 7:30 until 11:00am, we pulled 8 dump truck loads of debris and logs from the reservoir. This year’s harvest was less than prior years for 2 reasons. First, a huge thunderstorm storm hit us at exactly 11:00 limiting our activity. Second, our primary man on the chain saw (Jim Seebeck) did an excellent job of trimming the branches and logs to fit more on the dump trucks. Thanks to Pat Comer and the Cicero Street &Utility department for the big equipment and hauling away the debris. For our second year, MWA went eco-friendly for the 2nd year by recycling the wood at GreenCycle on Rt. 19, thus eliminating the burning of this wood.

Our street crew, lead by Dean Denhart for the 6th year, picked up 10 bags of trash along the 236th Street causeway, along with a large trailer load of debris.  This helped to made a good impression on our out-of-town Cicero Triathlon participants the following Saturday. A special recognition goes to two of our women volunteers, Mary Pat Freeman and Chris Miller. These women were in the water wrestling logs and debris showing no fear. Thank both of you for your outstanding contribution.

Check out pictures of Mary Pat and Chris from the cleanup on our web site www.morseh2o.org

Special thanks to Chuck McCarley for again organizing the Cleanup. Here is list of the other 30 volunteers on Saturday. I apologize if I missed anyone from the signup sheet. Many of these volunteers continue to help every year. Please join us next year for this event which benefits all of us on the water.

Donations Always Welcomed

Thank you to the 2 families that gave donations for pulling logs from their docks. Please help us continue to support the Morse Community with a donation of any amount. We did incur a few expenses (approximately $100) for the lake cleanup. Make checks out to Morse Waterways Association and send them to: Jim Schneider, 2460 Cape Henry Ct. Cicero, IN 46034. MWA is a non-profit 501(c) 3 so your donation is tax deductable.

Thanks for your support of Morse Waterways Association.
